The Ambrosial Sound
C, D, Bb, Eb, A, C, D, A, C, E, C#, C. This is the begining to my symphony, which I woudl entitle, "The Ambrosial Sound." It would be played throughtout concert halls in the nation. It would be as grand as the nation's deficit is deep, or Thomas Donley's patriotism for our great nation. My inspiration, like Clive's would come from a multitude of sources. I would use Lifetime and working out for my inspiration of the melody and completely wing the begining out of pure imagination from my mind. For the finale, I would have Gucci Mane come in and assist me in writing it. His beats are "off the chain" (no one ever says this). Of course, like Clive this would cause me a ton of stress. I would probably become depressed, paranoid, suicidal, or an alcoholic. Clive seems to fit some of these categories. However, I think my symphony would be better than Clive's. On a larger scale, it would have more flare and grandeur. Mine would also be much mroe creative as well as imaginative. I might even play it before the blog show, if I feel as though those around me are priviledged enough to hear it. When it comes out I will be remembered forever and will have everlasting fame as a composer. It will be played at all sporting events, politcal ceremonies and conventions, and before school. I now understand the kind of pressure Clive is going through...

Henry, I went to my piano and played the beginning of your symphony and it sounds pretty good. I'm a big fan of your compositions. However, I disagree that this would be all that stressful. All of Clive's whining bothers me - being an artist does not exactly sound like the most difficult thing in the world. All he does is sit around, drink expensive wine, and wait for the music to come to him. The most rigorous part of his job is going on a trip to go hiking and climbing, which sounds like fun. I'd take that job in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteHenry, I look forward to hearing your symphony, assuming you determine we are worthy of hearing it. Like Alex I too have become sick of Clive's persistant whining, not as much however that I feel an artistic career is not a difficult career, I feel he whines about other parts of his life too much. For example on more than one occasion he has complained that he has yet to be married, yet I must point out that he allowed a woman to be dragged away by her attacker without so much as attempting to help her. How can he complain about failing to have been married when he completely ignores them while in peril? In my opinion Clive complains too frequently about problems which he creates for himself.
ReplyDeleteHenry, I am also quite impressed with the beginning of your symphony and hope to hear the rest eventually. Although Clive is under much pressure to finish his symphony, I also agree with Alex that overall it is not that taxing of a job. Simply sitting and waiting for inspiration seems like a job anyone would take in a second. However, at the same time all this time bottled up inside, constantly thinking and over analyzing every detail could drive someone insane. I guess I am torn on whether or not I pity Clive and his musical ambitions.
